and the northeast is drying out but not really warming up. temperatures still in the 40s in new york city and boston. the 80s still dominate texas for the time being. look at the cold air with this next system that. continues to push eastward into your weekend. we've got showers, perhaps some thunderstorms here in the midwest and plenty of snow and cold air all the way down towards phoenix. a high of 63 as we head towards the weekend. northeast slowly warming up, melting that snow pretty rapidly. sunday temperatures warming up across the east. meanwhile showers and thunderstorms across the middle of the country and the 80s here in texas behind the system. temperatures denver only 30 for a high temperature. 25 in billings. now we're pushing the low 60s from d.c., new york, even towards boston as we head towards the end of the weekend. into next week here comes a front into the midwest and the ohio valley giving you some scattered showers and thunderstorms. look at the temperature contrast. chicago 40, kansas city 40. but still 60 in louisville ahead of that front. here comes yet more rain and mountai

and 40s minneapolis today 53, boston and new york, warm for thanksgiving here throughout much of the south. and then by friday you're going to see that cold front push farther to the south. chance for some showers ahead of it and behind it could see a little bit of lake effects snow action happening here. then friday after a break in the northwest comes that next system bringing another chance for some showers and even some mountain snow. much much colder air. look at this. instead of some 60s, looking at upper 30s in chicago, upper 20s in minneapolis on friday. so black friday is going to be a cold friday for so many spots. and it's going to cool down even more once that front gets through. it's going to cool down for other locations, including new york and boston, lower 40s. look at the south now. lower 50s in atlanta, pushing 70 just a little bit before that, a couple days before that. now you're looking at much much cooler temperatures. it's going to feel a lot more like we're knocking on winter's door. sunday there will be some more cool air in place but dry. if you're do

they had turkey chili for lunch what went on in that room? >> i was up here in boston, spoke to some romney advisers who described it as a good meeting, important meeting for both sides to do. this is an awkward looking photo. it is still very tough. the feelings if you're on the romney side of the campaign are still pretty raw. one of the things i was told romney made clear is that he doesn't want to play any part in fiscal cliff negotiations. there was some talk immediately afterwards some of his discussions or ideas on deductions, eliminating some tax deductions could be helpful, but romney made it clear he doesn't want to play a role in those talks. >> david, who would you be with this weekend on "meet the press"? >> talking to timothy geithner, talking about where the negotiations are, where the pain point is for democrats in terms of where they're willing to make cuts, that's an important question for republicans as discussions go forward. >> one of the men at the center of all of this. david gregory, thanks so much, david. >> thanks, willie. >>> let's check the day's other top storie

, boston. the number of cancelled flights, about $2900. today we got about 600. so where between 570 and 600 flights cancelled. a.m. tram update for you, it will provide modified northeast regional service, and i want to give yo a update on the subway system as well. there is some subway activity north of 34th street, but below 34th street, almost nothing. th that has been a real problem. if you're driving to manhattan today, you cannot be in a car with fewer than three people. i received e-mails, tweets from people that are trying to drive into manhattan. it is a mess today. mass transit has been compromised, massive gridlock, and a shortage of gas. all of that is causing big problems across the metro area. cars are lined up for gas and at times they have been blocking the highways, i saw a line two miles long to get into a gas station off of the freeway. want to show you gridlock. it has been wall to wall people. so many people know about new york and tunnels and bridges, so even if you're outside of new york, let me give you a sense of what's going on. the george washington bridge
